The ‘manosphere’ refers to a network of online communities, content and influencers that promote ideas about masculinity, relationships and gender roles. While some content may appear harmless, other messages can shape harmful attitudes towards girls and women, relationships and identity, influencing the way boys and young men think, behave and connect with others.
Presented by The Man Cave, Australia’s leading preventative mental health charity for boys and young men, this free practical session is designed for parents, carers and positive role models. It provides clear, balanced advice to help adults understand these online influences, recognise the warning signs and respond with confidence.
The session will explore:
- why this content appeals to some boys and young men
- the underlying needs that can make it appealing
- practical ways to start conversations without shame or judgement
- how to respond if a young person is already being influenced.
This supportive, evidence-informed session focuses on understanding, connection and equipping adults with practical tools to help young people navigate the online world safely and confidently.
