Imagine a situation of domestic violence, where the primary aggressor — the person perpetrating the violence — is identified as the victim. And with the tables turned, that victim is wrongly identified as the perpetrator.

It’s what those inside the system refer to as “misidentification”, and according to more than 30 frontline services, experts and advocates contacted by the ABC, it’s an issue in need of urgent attention.
