The Department of Education has released an Issues Paper to guide consultation on the new National Higher Education Code to Prevent and Respond to Gender-Based Violence. This Code will introduce regulations requiring higher education providers to take a whole-of-organisation approach to preventing and responding to gender-based violence, with compliance overseen by a new expert unit. Student accommodation providers will also be subject to these rules. The government is currently consulting on the Code’s development.
