The Victorian Government’s Office for Women is sponsoring 50 places for women who want to undertake an online Diploma of Governance in 2023. These places are part of the Women’s Board Leadership Program, supported by the Office for Women Victoria.
This scholarship program provides governance training and networking to help women advance their board careers. All women in Victoria who have experience serving, or a desire to serve, on a government or not-for-profit board or committee of management can apply.

Wimmera residents now have access to this service offering co-ordinated family violence and child well-being support in the one place. The Horsham’s Orange Door was officially opened by Minister for Prevention of Family Violence the Hon. Ros Spence MP on Tuesday 9 August.

Family Safety Victoria (FSV) have provided an update to ensure that victim survivors have consistent and equitable access to specialist family violence support options across the state. The update provides confirmation of the minimum requirements for all Local Family Violence Support Services in all DFFH Areas related to the treatment of referrals for specialist family violence support. Local Family Violence Support Services receive funding for victim survivor case management under Activity 38028 Client Support Family Violence. This funding supports the delivery of key case management functions across the spectrum of responses and domains set out in the Case Management Program Requirements. This includes intake and access related screening, identification and triage functions.

Alongside ANROWS‘s Sexual Harassment Research Program, Dr Nicola Helps from Monash Gender and Family Violence Prevention Centre is also conducting research into workplace sexual harassment. The survey asks participants to describe an incident of workplace sexual harassment they have experienced.
The project seeks to better understand victim/survivors’ experiences of workplace sexual harassment, and their views on how workplaces can better prevent workplace sexual harassment. The project also seeks to explore the experiences of bystanders to workplace sexual harassment.

Monash University with Harmony Alliance are surveying migrant and refugee women’s experiences and views around behaviour they experience in work settings. The survey is being conducted under the auspices of Monash University Human Research Ethics Committee (MUHREC) Project 32812.
The Victorian Government recognises that ongoing challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic and ongoing workforce shortages mean that not all practitioners will be able to be hired in precise accordance with the Mandatory Minimum Qualifications policy at this early stage of implementation. The transition period, running until 30 June 2026, is an opportunity to adjust to the new settings. We will continue to work with peak bodies, employers, unions and the tertiary education sector to monitor the impacts on the sector through the Transition Monitoring Advisory Group and to inform a review the Policy in 2024-25.
Over the last 10 years Djirra has seen an increase in technology-facilitated abuse, alongside an increased use of social media and electronic devices.
In response to this, Djirra’s new eSafety campaign #ThatAintLove focuses on tech-facilitated abuse in a family violence context, and aims to raise awareness of the impacts of this abuse on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women.
The campaign includes videos, posters and fact sheets and videos that are available to download. There are also street posters on display across Melbourne’s western and northern suburbs. Check out the campaign and resources here.
