Client Referral Process A referral to the service can come from the older person directly, a concerned family member or friend, or a referring agency.

To refer an older person and/or their family to the Respecting Elders or Elder Abuse Prevention Service, please contact us on 1800 214 117 or via email with your contact details.

Our Social Work department has specialist workers, including an Elder Abuse Liaison Officer, available to provide expert advice across Bayside Health Peninsula and support to patients. Patients, family members and supporters can ask to speak with a social worker at any stage of care.

How can the Elder Abuse Liaison Officer assist you?
• Available for phone consultations: Mon – Fri, 8am–4.30pm
• Provide advice, support and guidance about clients you know or suspect are impacted by elder abuse
• Advise you about, and link you to, resources and services to support your client
• Attend case conferences to support decision making and care planning
• Deliver an in-service to your team about the Integrated model of care for responding to suspected elder abuse (IMoC)
• Support access to training and education about elder abuse
