SUMMARY:Melbourne Launch of the National Roadmap for Change to Prevent and End Family Violence against People and Animals | Lucy's Project
DESCRIPTION:Lucy’s Project is delighted to invite you to join us in Melbourne for the Victorian launch of the National Roadmap for Change to Prevent and End Family Violence against People and Animals. \nThe National Roadmap for Change is informed by recommendations from the National Roundtable convened by Lucy’s Project in 2025. The Roundtable brought together over 100 participants including people with lived expertise\, practitioners\, advocates\, researchers and policy makers. \nMany of the Roundtable recommendations align to initiatives that have been implemented in Aotearoa New Zealand and the USA. Earlier this year\, Lucy’s Project’s CEO undertook a Churchill Fellowship to learn more about these initiatives and fellowship findings are included in the National Roadmap. \nThe National Roadmap for Change also shares the stories and insights of five survivors who call for systems change to better support people and animals experiencing family violence. \nThis event aims to bring together partners from across the family\, domestic and sexual violence\, animal welfare\, veterinary\, legal and research sectors who have contributed to the development of this important national reform agenda\, as well as parliamentarians and policy makers. \nThis event will follow the NSW launch at NSW Parliament House to be held on 24 September\, and the national launch at Australian Parliament House which was held on 19 August. \nLucy’s Project greatly appreciates the support of the Petstock Foundation\, our Major Partner\, which enables us to lead change to improve the safety and wellbeing of people and animals across Australia. \nRegister here

SUMMARY:Sticky Work: "Good" Feminist Subjects and their “Survivor-Led” Politics
DESCRIPTION:Sticky Work: “Good” Feminist Subjects and their “Survivor-Led” Politics \nIncreasingly\, sexual violence scholarship\, activism and sector-work emphasises the importance of “survivor-led” or survivor-centred responses to sexual violence. Such responses have emerged as a necessary correction to the historical and ongoing exclusion and silencing of survivor’s voices\, and to redress the attendant harms caused to many survivors as a result. \nHowever\, important questions remain regarding which survivors are able to speak and be heard\, and what survivor speech ‘does’. In this seminar event\, we examine the politics of “survivor-led” responses\, and the ways in which these may become both challenging to critique\, and bound up in punitive\, carceral responses to sexual violence. \nPlease join us for this free event with Dr molly ackhurst from the University of Greenwich\, UK. Dr Ackhurst will present her work on “good” feminist subjects and “survivor-led” politics\, with Dr Tully O’Neill (LaTrobe University)\, Jess Oldfield (LaTrobe University/University of Melbourne) and A/Prof Bianca Fileborn (University of Melbourne) acting as discussants\, followed by an audience Q&A. \nThe event will be held in-person at the University of Melbourne Parkville campus\, with a Zoom option also available.
