SUMMARY:Unpacking Colonial Assumptions | Intertwine
DESCRIPTION:For this session\, we’re exploring colonial assumptions in not-for-profits\, for-purpose organisations and progressive movements. We welcome First Peoples from various lands along with migrants and settlers to come together\, reflect and listen. \nWe often hear people talking about working in decolonising ways — but what does that mean in practice? How does settler privilege and the assumptions of white Western business concepts shape how our organisations are structured and operate? How might we change that? \nThe session will be co-facilitated by grassroots activist and storyteller Jill Faulkner and intertwine co-founder Ro Bersten. Jill was born in Aotearoa\, and has lived on the lands of the First Nations peoples of Australia longer than she has lived on the country of her grandfather\, descendant of the Ngati Te Whiti hapu of the Ati Awa iwi. Ro is an immigrant settler descended from Eastern European Jewish refugees. \nWe look forward to connecting with you and creating new ways of working. \nRegister Here

SUMMARY:Webinar: Working Together: Resources to Support Collaborative Assessment of Family Violence Risk | Eastern Metropolitan Regional Family Violence Partnership
DESCRIPTION:The RFVP team is excited to share Working Together: Resources to support collaborative assessment of family violence risk\, which are now available on the RFVP website here. \nTo celebrate the launch of Working Together the RFVP team are holding two webinar information sessions. These sessions will showcase the content of the resources\, examine how they can support frontline professionals and be applied in practice\, and consider how they can support organisational alignment to MARAM. The sessions are relevant to frontline professionals across all sectors who have a role in responding to family violence\, team leaders and managers\, and staff involved in supporting MARAM alignment\, including quality teams. \nWorking Together was developed as a resource to address issues identified through the RFVP’s collaborative discussions and meetings. It was identified that MARAM risk assessments were not always being shared between services when referrals were made\, resulting in multiple risk assessments being completed and clients repeating their story to numerous service providers. In response\, Working Together brings together practice and lived experience knowledge to enhance collaboration between professionals\, including promoting greater sharing of MARAM risk assessments between services and more coordinated multi-agency assessments of family violence risk. \nRegister here

SUMMARY:Supporting non-offending parents after child sexual abuse | AIFS & Emerging Minds | Webinar
DESCRIPTION:Sensitive Content Warning \nChild sexual abuse continues to be a significant and urgent national issue. The Australian Child Maltreatment Study (2023) revealed that 28% of Australians aged 16 – 24 have experienced this form of abuse\, with a higher rate among girls than boys (37.3% vs 18.8%). \nWhen a child discloses sexual abuse the experience for the non-offending parent/s can be overwhelming. Parents often blame themselves and experience a range of other intense emotions including anger\, shame and doubt\, making it difficult to support their child. \nPractitioners who don’t have specialist knowledge in responding to child sexual abuse may feel overwhelmed if they are working with families where there has been a disclosure. The aim of this webinar is to equip you with practice skills that will allow you to better support these families. \nThis webinar will outline some strategies that you can use to support non-offending parents following a child’s disclosure of sexual abuse.
