Safer Families through the UNCOVER project has just released new research involving 815 Australian women creating timelines of documenting psychological, physical and sexual abusive behaviours and life events in a recent relationship (during the last five years). We found that the earliest indicators of abuse were being isolated from others and feeling controlled. Psychological abuse was a feature of most violent relationships, and almost always underpinned physical and sexual abuse, often beginning before couples moved in together.
