Good Shepherd is facilitating a peer support group pilot program for victim survivors of family violence. These are closed groups of around 10 participants running for 8 weeks.

These are closed groups of up to 10 participants running for 8 weeks and location addresses will be provided upon referral. Participants will contribute to shaping the curriculum which may include topics for discussion, art, music, and activities. We can provide interpreters and support with childcare and transport.  

Eligibility criteria: 

  1. Have experienced family violence 
  2. Identify as a woman and aged 18+ 
  3. Live in Bayside Peninsula 
  4. Capacity to commit to the group 
  5. Not currently in crisis 
  6. Would benefit from a peer support group intervention 

Eligibility will be determined during an assessment and intake process. 

Clients may self-refer, or you may complete the referral form and email it to [email protected]

Participants will:

  1. Increase opportunities for social connectedness and reduce social isolation
  2. Start to build networks for emotional, practical, and informational support
  3. Be better equipped with tools, skills and strategies to effectively manage and cope
  4. Rebuild confidence, self-esteem, and resilience
  5. Feel more empowered with increased self-efficacy and independence to achieve their goals
