SUMMARY:Uniting Families Report webinar: the village in practice
DESCRIPTION:Across Australia\, family services are being reshaped\, with significant changes proposed to how support is organised and delivered. \nThis webinar\, Monday 4 May\, brings together insights from the Uniting Families Report ‘It takes a village to raise a child’ with what is currently being seen in practice across different communities\, family types and states. \n  \nUniting NSW.ACT\, Uniting Vic.Tas and UnitingSA will share experiences from services supporting families to connect\, build confidence and access help earlier. \nThese service spotlights will explore what a ‘village’ looks like in practice through community-based programs and relational supports. \nThe session will also include time to connect with others working with families and communities\, and a live Q&A with the speakers. \nExplore the Uniting Families Report\, a partnership project between Uniting and the Social Policy Research Centre UNSW here: uniting.org/families-report \nRegister here

SUMMARY:Embedding Evidence: Voices from practice – Building outcomes\, service data and client focus | Anchor Inc.\, Anglicare Victoria and Uniting VicTas
DESCRIPTION:Join us for an engaging session exploring practical strategies to embed outcomes\, service data\, and client insights into everyday practice. This event is part of OPEN’s new series\, showcasing diverse approaches from organisations across the sector—offering key takeaways for leaders\, program managers\, and practitioners alike. \n  \nNo matter where you are in your evidence and data journey\, this session is for you. Whether you’re just getting started or looking to refine your approach\, you’ll gain practical\, real-world insights that can be applied across different programs and services. These presentations will show that embedding evidence and client voice doesn’t have to be overwhelming—small\, strategic steps can make a big impact. \n  \nThis session will highlight three different approaches to embedding evidence in practice: \n\nFrom Vision to Impact:  Anchor’s Journey in Implementing Evaluation Work – Avi MacMull (Anchor Inc.) will share how their Outcomes & Impact Framework was developed to align with strategic goals and drive a consistent approach to measuring success. Avi will take a deep dive into a project where theory of change was reviewed\, outcome measures were refined\, and practitioner-led tools were developed to systematically collect data without overburdening clients. The presentation will highlight how culture\, infrastructure\, and processes work together to embed evidence-informed practice across an organisation.\nKeeping on with what’s working or correcting the course: the role of outcomes and client voice data during active service-provision – David Giles  and Jonathon Cummins (Anglicare Victoria) will outline Anglicare Victoria’s processes for assessing client outcomes and conducting client voice surveying during ongoing service episodes\, using the example of out-of-home care. These processes are designed to inform decision-making about ongoing service provision; both at an individual client level\, and for continuous improvement purposes at an organisational level.\nEngaging practitioners and clients in understanding impact – Mia Lorenzo (Uniting VicTas) will explore how integrating client and practitioner insights throughout the evaluation process leads to better quality data and improved outcomes. Mia will share lessons from the Family Preservation and Reunification Response (FPRR) evaluation\, where diverse feedback methods—including workshops\, surveys\, and focus groups—were used to build engagement\, improve service delivery\, and drive continuous improvement.\n\nAlongside these presentations\, OPEN will introduce new training\, project support\, and resources to help organisations build their evidence and outcomes capabilities. \n  \nThis session offers a blend of foundational insights for those new to evidence-informed practice and more advanced strategies for those looking to refine their approach. Don’t miss out on practical takeaways from these shared experiences\, highlighting key lessons\, tools\, and challenges in embedding evidence and client voice into service delivery. \nRegister Here

SUMMARY:Midsumma Pride March
DESCRIPTION:Midsumma Pride March is a signature event\, where historically up to 10\,500 marchers normally take to the streets down Fitzroy Street in St Kilda each year and over 45\,000 people line the streets and balconies along the march route to show their support – making this the best-attended annual Pride March in Victoria. In terms of scale\, march numbers for Midsumma Pride March are consistently larger than other annual marches held in Victoria. \nFestival Details:  See the Midsumma Festival website \n  \nUniting Vic.Tas March\n\n\nThis year Uniting Vic.Tas will march for our third consecutive\, with our tagline harnessing the power from our inaugural brand campaign messaging\, a future we believe in.  The March forms part of the Midsumma Festival\, Victoria’s premier LGBTIQ+ cultural festival\, celebrating solidarity in gender and sexuality diversity.\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAll marchers are required to be fully vaccinated and follow covid safe processes. \nSome key times for the day: \n\n10.30am: Trams in Fitzroy Street stop running until the march concludes\n10.45: Meet at the corner of Canterbury Road and Fitzroy Street\, St Kilda.\n11am: March begins\n1.30pm: March ends\n1.30pm – 4pm: Post-Pride March celebrations at Catani Gardens\n\nTo join Uniting on the day\, register here
