SUMMARY:Webinar: Supporting neurodivergent children through separation
DESCRIPTION:Neurodivergent individuals experience and interpret the world in ways that differ from the social and cultural norm (known as ‘neurotypical’ functioning). Research suggests divorce and separation are higher among families who have neurodivergent children\, and many parents of neurodivergent children are also neurodivergent themselves. This webinar\, hosted by the Family Law Pathways Networks (FLPN) will explore best practice principles for practitioners working in and alongside the family law sector\, including family law professionals supporting children and parents who are or may be neurodivergent. It will look at the stigma and misunderstandings that surround neurodivergence\, as\nwell as key considerations and practical strategies for supporting the wellbeing of neurodivergent children and families in this context. \nRegister here

SUMMARY:Understanding Resistance & Refusal in Family Law Matters | Family Law Pathways Network
DESCRIPTION:This training will help participants understand the points of interface between parental conflict and children’s experiences. \nChildren who refuse or resist spending time with a parent following separation are a common presentation in family law contexts. Many of these children not only resist contact with a parent but also reject attempts to repair the relationship\, often expressing strong and consistent opposition. \nThe overlap between high-conflict parenting and children’s refusal provides valuable insight into the refuse–resist dynamic\, offering a framework for understanding when and how intervention can be most effective. \nThis presentation focuses on the “how and why” of refuse–resist\, helping participants develop a deeper understanding of the psychological and relational mechanisms underpinning these dynamics\, as well as the consequences for children caught in ongoing interparental conflict. \nRegister here
