DESCRIPTION:Victoria needs to much more\, much earlier to prevent violence\, intervene and stop men’s use of violence at its source. \nJoin us at the Queen Victoria Women’s Centre in-person or online on the 14th of October from 1-3:30PM to put the future of family violence firmly on the election agenda. \nGovernment investment overwhelmingly flows to late-stage interventions\, police\, courts and prisons. Too many men using violence pass through the system without being held accountable or challenged to change. They disappear from view\, enter new relationships and the cycle starts again. What should be the last resort – for far too many victim-survivors – is the first system response they receive\, often after years of enduring violent and controlling behaviour. \nWe can build more prisons and tighten bail laws\, but that does not stop violence before police are called. This election must confront that gap. \nA safer Victoria is one that stops the next instance of family violence; one that does much more\, much earlier. Join us to demand better. \nRegister here

DESCRIPTION:Gender transformative practice in primary prevention draws on a rich global history of work in public health and community-led advocacy. This work is at an exciting turning point. The appetite for deep transformative work with communities is growing. Changing with Pride\, a new forthcoming national framework to prevent gender-based violence with and for lesbian\, gay\, bisexual\, transgender\, intersex\, queer and asexual (LGBTIQA+) people and communities\, is set to provide important guidance for the sector. \n  \nAt the same time\, the context for this work is becoming increasingly complex.
