SUMMARY:Cultivating a Consent Culture | Let's Talk About X
DESCRIPTION:Mandatory consent education is being rolled out in schools Australia-wide\, but for it to be effective\, a whole-school approach needs to be taken.\nThat’s why we’ve put together training for ALL teachers\, not just those teaching consent. In this 70 minute webinar\, you will learn what steps you can take to begin building a consent culture.\nYou will learn:\n– About what’s been happening amongst students to spark all these changes around consent\n– How to recognise attitudes and behaviours that contribute to a lack of understanding of and respect for consent\n– How to address these behaviours and promote a respect for consent \nThis webinar is designed by teachers\, for teachers\, in consultation with recent high-school graduates. We take an intersectional approach\, amplifying the voices of people from groups disproportionately affected by sexual violence

SUMMARY:Leap Into Yourself | Institute of Non-Violence
DESCRIPTION:After the success of our August ‘Leap Into Yourself’ workshop\, we are excited to announce the date for our next workshop for service providers: ‘Leap Into Yourself: Working With Shame and Trauma’. \nThe program is designed for service providers from a range of service industries who are encountering clients that are using family and domestic violence behaviours. The program will also benefit service providers who are working with people who are experiencing family violence as this will increase their understanding of perpetrator behaviour. \nAbout the Offering:\nSome suggest shame and trauma sit in all corners of the work we do with those affected by violence. \nHow well do we understand the embodied experiences and sensations of shame and trauma – their nature\, power\, and manifestations? \nMore importantly\, how well do we work with Shame to harness its potential for motivating respectful behaviour change? Similarly\, what can we improve in our processes and practice to better pacify the impact of trauma for our clients. \nLevel:\nIntermediate to advanced \n

SUMMARY:Challenging Male Entitlement in Men's Behaviour Change Programs | Northside Counselling Solutions
DESCRIPTION:These reflective discussions are held on the last Wednesday of each month in 2022. \nBetween each session\, at least another 4 women will be murdered by a current or former male partner by their use of family violence. Since these figures are not changing from year to year\, the need for practitioners to address gender injustices in our personal lives\, not just our work\, becomes even more necessary. \nIn order for us to invite other men to examine and explore themes such as male privilege\, male entitled belief systems\, male sexism and misogyny- themes at the heart of men’s oppression of women- we must examine them first ourselves and openly discuss how our own entitlements over women’s bodies\, choices and rights get enacted in our relationships with female colleagues\, partners and family members\, as well as women generally and other genders usually targeted by male violence and misogyny. \nBy discussing and exposing male privilege and entitlement\, practitioners can challenge and address reinforcing harmful gender and power-based messages in our daily practices. These conversations can be complex and require ongoing supportive spaces like these for men to discuss gender in a way that is purposeful\, mobilising and informed by feminist and anti-oppressive ideas. Practitioners from all sectors are invited to attend and participate with purpose. \nThis is NOT a men’s only space. This is not group therapy and people of all genders are encouraged to come along. \nZoom meeting link will be sent via email after registration and one day before the event. Please allow for your zoom audio and visual functions to be working during the session. \nThis event is brought to you by Anthony Lekkas from northsidecounsellingsolutions.com
