SUMMARY:Research Matters Forum - Dr. Natalie Amos | Rainbow Health
DESCRIPTION:Rainbow Health Australia is launching a new series of events that will build further on Research Matters print resources.  Research Matters forums will share findings from the latest research on LGBTIQ health and wellbeing\, discuss current practice experience and how emerging research findings can help inform and assist communities\, organisations\, service providers and government to improve health\, wellbeing\, and inclusion for LGBTIQ people. \nIn this first session\, we will host Dr. Natalie Amos\, Research Officer from the Australian Research Centre in Sex\, Health and Society (ARCSHS). She will discuss new findings that indicate LGBTQ adults who experience family and intimate partner violence may not recognise these experiences or name them as\, family violence. SUMMARY:Men & Masculinities Learning Forum
DESCRIPTION:Women’s Health in the South East (WHISE) and the Promoting Respect and Equity Together (PRET) partnership is hosting another learning forum to share learnings and build workforce capacity across the region. \n\n\n\nEveryone should be free to explore and develop who they are without the pressure of gender stereotypes. Sometimes it can be challenging\, but it is not impossible. Join us to hear from partners and experts across the region as we discuss engaging men and boys to embrace healthy relationships\, freeing themselves from unhealthy masculinities\, and the role this plays in the prevention of gendered violence/violence against women. \n\n\n\nJesuit Social Services – The Men’s Project will provide an understanding around the importance of framing the Man Box research with men and boys. We will discover what they are planning\, learning and hearing out in the field\, along with gaining valuable insight into the future progress of this work and how it contributes to the prevention of gendered violence. \n\n\n\nMornington Peninsula Shire Council in collaboration with Family Life will share learnings from their recent Mornington Peninsula Communities Creating Change Project in 2020-2022 working with men\, boys and the community to encourage healthier relationships and masculinities. A participant from the program will also join us to share his learnings and insight by being involved in the program. \n\n\n\nAlso\, a representative from Relationships Australia Victoria will share his experiences in engaging men from culturally diverse backgrounds in conversations around healthy relationships for the prevention of gendered violence. \n\n\n\nFollowing the presentations there will be opportunities to contribute and shape this ongoing work.
