DESCRIPTION:Protect\, Share\, Support: Understanding Family Violence in Disability Service shares the best practices from Victoria’s framework as they apply to working with people with disability\, including guidance around information sharing and privacy for organisations that are not part of Victoria’s family violence information sharing framework. \nIt draws on the best practices and latest knowledge about family violence\, as reflected in Victoria’s Multi-Agency Risk Assessment and Management (MARAM) framework. Topics covered: \n\nWhat is family violence? How our understanding of the spectrum of family violence has evolved over time.\nUnderstand the nature of coercive control and cumulative harm\, particularly as it may occur for people with disability.\nUsing a disability and trauma-informed lens\, we examine best practices for responding safely and respectfully to disclosures.\nWe share guidance for sharing information and seeking consultation from services that can support people experiencing family violence.\nWe share best practices for documenting and handling client concerns.\n\nLearning outcomes\n\nUnderstand the nature of family violence and the ways it can impact people with disability\nApply the best practices for responding to signs of family violence or to disclosures of family violence\nUnderstand the best practices for recording observations and disclosures of family violence and for collaborating and consulting with family violence specialist services\n\nIntended audience\nWorkers in the disability sector who may encounter clients experiencing family violence but whose organisations are not formally a part of the MARAM framework. \n

DESCRIPTION:Introduction to Sex Worker Affirming Practice \nJoin RhED’s Health Educators online for an introduction to sex worker affirming practice! \nThese sessions are aimed at those working in a range of community and social services\, as well as those working in private practice\, who are looking to develop a greater understanding of the strengths of\, and challenges facing\, the sex work community. This training also encompasses how individuals and services can reform and/or enhance their practice to create a sex worker inclusive and affirming space and proactively contribute towards challenging sex worker stigma and discrimination with greater confidence. \nThis session will cover: \n· Who is RhED? \n· What is sex work\, who does it\, and why? \n· The consequences of conflating sex trafficking with sex work. \n· Victorian sex work legislation and the impact of legislation on sex workers. \n· Sex work stigma and discrimination. \n· Engaging in sex worker affirming & non-stigmatising practice. \nOur Introduction to Sex Worker Affirming Practice sessions include interactive elements\, and have time for discussion and questions. \nAfter attending this session you will have a deeper understanding of sex work stigma and its impact on the sex work community\, as well as some ideas and practice approaches you can implement in your work to create a safer and more inclusive service for sex workers.

In this month’s Yarning Circle we welcome Laura Egan from Mungabareena Aboriginal Corporation where she works with along side community every day in Wodonga.
